South African Tribal Masks are like fingerprints as there are no two alike. Each one tells a story and as you dwell on that story, the more questions your mind will ask. The prices vary and the more detail the higher the price. The stall operators expect you to bargain. Don’t show your money until you’re paying. One of the best African curio markets is located in Green Market Square, dating back to 1696 is set on a cobbled square just off Burg Street in the Town Centre of Cape Town. More than masks, you’ll find hand painted fabrics, carvings, beadwork, tribal clothing, leatherwork and ceramics. It operates every day except Sunday, 09h00 – 16h00. There’s also a great selection of restaurants and cafes which provide a broad selection of local fare and the opportunity to people watch and take in the various street entertainers.
