The east side of the island of Kauai may not provide the famous Hawaiian sunsets but the sunrises can be just as spectacular. Depending on the density and position of the clouds you can have an entire spectrum of colors. Kauai’s famous Nou Nou Mountain, better known as the Sleeping Giant, overlooks the Town of Kapa’a. Nearby are the famed Coconut Coast, Wailua River, Opaekaa Falls and several inviting white sand beaches. The town provides lots of lodging, vacation rentals, family owned eateries, taco trucks, grocery stores, farmer’s markets and boutique style shopping. Kapa’a is a great base for exploring the north, south and west sides of Kauai.
